This year’s Fall Conference will focus on creating a sense of belonging through community planning and design.
WRT’s Senior Associate Misa Chen, PLA, ASLA, will be speaking at the first session of the virtual Plan New Hampshire Fall Conference. This year’s conference, Belonging by Design, is a 3-part interactive webinar series that will explore the ways in which community planning and design can be utilized to create welcoming and inclusive environments.
In this session, Misa will join Friends of Congress Square Park and the City of Portland to discuss the process of transforming the Congress Square Park – part of a large-scale renovation of a major public open space in the heart of the Portland, Maine Arts District – into a focal point for cultural activities and community programs that will contribute to the economic vitality of the city and improve the quality of life for Portland residents, workers, and visitors. Misa will take a look at this park through the lens of the intentionality of its design so that it is inclusive to a wide range of people (of different ages, cultures, and abilities), foster spontaneity, while remaining inviting and accessible to all.
Make sure to register for this online event being held on Tuesday, October 6. AIA and AICP credits are available.
