John will be hosting a panel called “Climate Change and the Quad: Resiliency as Catalysts to Building Campus Landscape,” discussing current guiding policy and sustainable design progress in response to climate change. In a moderated format, three campus landscape architects will highlight successes, challenges, and the surprising opportunities that resiliency planning offers to the design and management of campus landscapes.

Panelists for this session include Stephen Mezger, Campus Landscape Architect of University of California, Davis; Todd Pitman, Assistant Director Campus Planning and Campus Landscape Architect of University of California, San Diego; and Norman Yatable, ASLA, LEED AP, Landscape Project Manager of Arizona State University.

Jacob will be the Lead Presenter for a panel called “Lessons from the Front Lines of Drought and Climate Change: Radical Water Conservation," along with Nelda Matheny, President of HortScience, and Julie Saare-Edmonds, Senior Environmental Scientist of California Department of Water Resources. The panel will discuss regulatory, scientific, and design perspectives from California landscape architects as climate change increases the odds of drought in increased regions of the United States and the world.

This is the American Society of Landscape Architects 19th Annual Meeting and Expo, an education workshop that offers over 130 courses, to advance landscape architecture through advocacy, communication, education, and fellowship.
